Rocky and Normie are two young dogs who have probably been strays since birth. They were rescued in Rock Hill, SC. Animal Adoption League (www.mynextpet.com) has taken these sweet boys in to give them a chance at the good life they deserve. UPDATE: Rocky and Normie have both been adopted!! Now they are hoping for help for another friend, Ralphie... http://ralphiesstory.blogspot.com/

You can see from this movie that we're happy, happy boys! We love life now!
PS - I'm the handsome one in the purple bandana. Love, Normie
Last week two new friends came to visit. Actually, one of them seemed familiar, and the other one seemed like she must be around guys like us all the time. They were both really nice, gave us lots of hugs and attention, and even brought toys and treats for us! How exciting! They said they were sent by a special person who asks about us all the time. Rocky and I were both happy because there seem to be a lot of people that care about us.
Our new friends told us that people from all over the country helped us by sending what we needed to get the medicine and treatments that made us healthy.
And then I remembered why one of them seemed familiar... she had the silver thing that made clicking noises when it was pointed at us! She siad she was going to take pictures and mooovies too. All I know is I was really happy to remember her and it made me feel nice inside to know she came back to see us again, so I was all smiles and wags and happy. So was Rocky.

Well, the day finally came and foster mom said we were going to see our friend, the doctor. Oh Boy! another car ride!
All the hoomans at thedoctor's office were so happy to see us and especially to see my new chest hair. "Ooooh! It's soooooo soooofffffft, Normie!" the lady hoomans all said. I felt like a movie star! It made me feel all warm to have everyone paying attention to me and Rocky.
The doctor said we were doing well, and that we were healthy enough to get our "nooties". I was really excited, but I must have drifted off to sleep... I remember dreaming my favorite dream about the fambly with the little hooman who called me "good boy Normie".
When I woke up, Rocky was sleeping next to me and I felt a little groggy and kind of uncomfortable. We both slept a lot for a few days and I don't remember a lot. But foster mom and dad said we were really good boys and that we were "nootied" while we were asleep. The best part is now we can't make any other guys homeless like we used to be.
Foster mom said we're one step closer to having our new home and fambly of our own to love. We are so happy! Our lives are really going to be great, and we will always love the hoomans that have helped us... and I think they'll always love us too!

OK, admittedly that's kind of a strange thing for a dog to say, but to me it's the bestest news ever. It's true, there's hair growing on my chest now! Finally! And my foster mom says it's smooth and silky and I'm going to be handsome on the outside just like I'm handsome inside. I can't wait!!
Oh! And guess what else!?! Rocky and I get our nooties in two weeks! We are so excited that we'll be ready soon for a furever home. Well, we have a ways to go before then, but someday!
Foster mom said she talked with the lady that came one day with the shiny thing that clicked and said she's going to come see us again soon. I remember she kept saying,"Smile, Normie, say 'cheese'!" I hope this time she brings us some cheese. That would be nice!
Rocky and I have been having fun, playing together, and learning as much as we can. Foster mom says we're smart boys, and that's nice, but all I really want to be is "good boy Normie" for a nice fambly. Someday...

Foster Mom told us tonight that Sandy Paws is coming! She said he has a bunch of run deer guys and they land on top of the house and bring us what our hearts desire. So Rocky and I are thinking real hard about the loving home we've heard about, and hope Sandy Paws and the run deer know that's what we hope for.
Another thing foster mom said Sandy Paws does is stop by the Rainbow Bridge and give treats to all the guys who are waiting there for their hooman friends to come get them. We think that's a real nice thing to do. If we could, we'd take them treats too because we know what it's like to be lonely.
Guess what! We have an appointment to go see a vet! That means we get to ride in the car and the vet is going to tell us how we're doing and if we can get our nooties yet. Foster mom said her friends have told a lot of people about us and lots of them are helping us. I think hoomans are really nice, at least most of them are, except for the ones that threw rocks at us.
Well, I'd better get going now... I think I hear noises on the roof!

While Rocky and I have been looking at the Grrristmas tree and loving the beautiful lights, another kind of beautiful lights were seen by hundreds of people Saturday night in Rock Hill, where we came from.
The nice hoomans that are helping us are in a group called Animal Adoption League and Saturday night they set out hundreds of flickering lights by reflecting pools in a park. Hoomans came from all over to read the names on each one and water was coming out of all of their eyes.
There was one in honor of our foster mom and dad, even one for us! It said "In Honor of Rocky and Normie and healing". I feel so happy to know there are a lot of hoomans who love us and sad that we haven't met all of them yet.
In Honor of All Rescuers
In Memory of Those waiting at the Rainbow Bridge
In Honor of All those waiting for loving homes
In Honor of All Foster Moms & Dads

Rocky and Normie
We woke up this morning to the smell of the Grrristmas tree that our foster dad brought in last night. It was standing right in front of our favorite look outside window! After breakfast, we went outside for a while. The other guys that live with us were telling us that foster dad did the same thing last year. "Just wait till they deck-rate it! It's beautiful!", the tan one with the black face told us.
Later, when we got up from our nap, foster mom and dad were taking sparkly balls and things out of big boxes and sticking them to the Grrristmas tree. It was the strangest thing I'd ever seen. My nosey brother Rocky went in there to see if he could play with the ball but they told him to go back to our lay down place and be a good boy because Sandy Paws is coming and if we're not good we won't get any prezints.
We didn't understand that at all, but because foster mom and dad always do things that are fun, we did what they said. I was kinda tired anyway and my skin has been feeling better, but still hurts a little. I must have fallen asleep because I woke up to foster mom calling Rocky and me, "Come see the Grrristmas tree!"
Wow, it was pretty, just like the tan with black face guy told us it would be! It had little lights just like what we saw through the window last night. And there were balls and other things stuck on it and at the top was a pretty hooman lady but with wings and she was holding a star and it twinkled. I couldn't stop looking at it and sat there for a long time. Then I decided I wanted this to be my new lay down place because I felt so happy being near the Grrristmas tree.
Foster dad patted my head and asked me what I wanted Sandy Paws to bring me for Grrristmas. Rocky wants a new bandana, but all I could think about was my dream about the new home with the little hooman who called me "good boy Normie", so I wagged my tail for foster dad and thought about my dream really hard. He smiled at me and I think he understood.

One of my favorite things to do is look out the window with my brother Rocky. Last night we noticed that as it got darker outside there were pretty little lights on the houses up and down the road. Most were white, but some were red, green, and other colors. Watching the lights twinkle, I felt really calm and happy. Rocky kept saying that some of the lights looked like they were in the shape of a bone, and I told him he was being silly, though I secretly thought it looked like a bone too!
This afternoon our foster dad did the strangest thing. He brought a tree into the house! OH BOY, a TREE!! In the HOUSE!!! We were so excited because it MUST be for us to use! But he wagged his finger at us and said, "Oh, no, Rocky and Normie, don't even think about it! This is a Grrrrristmas tree!" It sounded important, and I could tell by the look he was giving us that it must be something important so I decided to just smell it from where I was standing. It sure smelled good. I went back to my lay down place and I could even smell it there. I fell asleep wondering why the tree was there and knowing that whatever the reason was, our foster mom and dad were always doing something that was fun for Rocky and me.

Today seemed to be a special day! Our foster mom and dad were both there, and mom was really busy in that room with the shiny boxes that have doors that open and close. And, WOW, did the house smell good! Mom said she was making a "turkley" and I think it would be wonderful if she made one everyday! She told Rocky and me that if we were really good boys we might get a special treat with our dinner. So we tried all day to be really good, which is hard, because we're only about 9 months old! But we tried and tried.
Rocky kept trying to be in the room mom was in, and one time she scolded him for being "underfeet". I was sure that he had ruined our chances to get our special treat, so I told him to lay down and take a nap and dream about the wonderful days that we're going to have when we get our new home. I took a nap, too, and had the most wonderful dream. I was with a nice man and lady hooman and a smaller hooman too. The smaller hooman was a lot of fun and we played catch and chase. Sometimes we just sat next to each other and he would put his arm around me and talk to me.
He always called me "good boy Normie" and taught me things. Sometimes we would go for rides with the big hoomans in the car. And we didn't always go to the vet! It was wonderful! At night, I slept on the smaller hooman's bed, and I always tried to let him know I loved him.
Hey guess what! In my dream, I finally had my "nootie"! It wasn't so bad. I went to sleep and when I woke up they said "You're all done, Normie!" I was a little sore for a few days but I just slept a lot. Now I'm so proud that I got "nootied" and I can't make any other guys like me homeless.
When I woke up from my dream, mom was calling Rocky and me to come get our dinner. And there on top was something I'd never smelled before! It was white and oh my goodness, was it good!! Yum! I gobbled it up first and it made all the rest of my food taste wonderful. After dinner I stood by mom and wagged and wagged my tail to let her know how much I liked it and would like to have it every day. She patted my head and called me "good boy Normie", just like the little hooman in my dream!
I hurried back to my lay down place so I could dream some more about what my life was going to be like when I have my new home. That makes me so happy!!
